The Junior room made the most of the beautiful day yesterday, they walked to Omey and did their PE there and they also studied the signs of spring on their way there. They spotted frogspawn, buds appearing, calves, daffodils and crocuses. They also kept an eye out for any litter on the way too. #greenschool
Yesterday we had a wonderful visit with the talented photographer Doug Allan. Dough is a renowned wildlife photographer who has worked on projects such as The Blue Planet. Dough kindly volunteered to come to visit our school and spoke to each classroom about his travels to the Arctic and Antarctic. This talk also links in well with our Marine Green Schools Theme that we have been busy working on. Dough kindly presented us with his beautiful book and gave us some posters of his images. We are very grateful to Doug for delivering such an interesting talk.
Last Friday, the senior room gathered their own rushes at home and brought them in to make their St. Brigids Day crosses. They turned out great!
We had a great Christmas Jumper Day and raised €90 for St Vincent De Paul. Hope everyone enjoys the holidays!
We were delighted to welcome Declan Holmes back to us last week. The science program is funded by The Whalen Foundation. This year we are working on a marine theme which ties in nicely with our Green schools work too!
in early October, the senior room were invited by GRETB Letterfrack to do a Beach Clean in Aughrus. They did great work and gathered loads of litter. This was part of our active Green School Activities. Special thanks to Sorcha O Toole for organising the trip and for funding the bus to the beach clean location.
Well done to Ellie and Hugh who won awards from the Galway Co. Council Art Competition. The theme was keeping county Galway Clean. Well done to all who entered too… As always, it is great to create posters to remind people to keep our beautiful county clean!
