On Friday 28th March, Claddaghduff N.S did a fundraiser in aid of The Irish Cancer Society. Ellie F, a 6th class pupil came up with the idea to do this fundraiser as it is a charity that is close to her heart. Together, we decided to do a non-uniform day and if people had any yellow clothes to wear they could do that too. So far, we have raised €1366. What an amazing achievement by everyone. Thanks to all who supported this fundraiser and a big well done Ellie, we are very proud of your initiative!

This coming Friday is Irish Cancer Society’s Daffodil Day. We have decided to do a non-uniform day for Friday. It has also been  suggested that the children/staff could wear something yellow if they have it… i.e. socks, a hairband, top etc…

We have created a school page with The Irish Cancer Society so if at all possible, please make a donation directly on this page online so our fundraising will go straight to The Irish Cancer Society. Please feel free to share our page too…

Yesterday the senior room travelled to The Clifden Town Hall to participate in The Whalen Foundation Science Fair. This year the theme of the progam was a ‘Marine Theme’ which fitted in well with out Marine Theme Green Schools work. The children decided to do their project on Spongebob marine characters. They did a great job and had an enjoyable day out. It is always lovely to have the opportunity to meet all the children in other schools too. Special thanks to Declan Holmes for all of the fantastic work he did, thanks to Marie Bourke for coordinating the whole program in 14 schools and a huge word of thanks to The Whalen Family in America who generously fund this science program every year. #greenschools

Yesterday, the senior room did their annual Spring Clean from the school to Omey Strand. They did a great job and gathered 12 big bags of litter. They even found two black bags just dumped behind the wall at Omey. Bringing awareness to keeping the beautiful space we live in is very important to our school. Well done everyone! #greenschool
